It is well known that effective mounting and framing is crucial to the successful presentation of a piece of art. In addition to framing my own work, I also offer a bespoke framing service to other artists in North West Sutherland. My previous work has included the mounting and framing of photographic work by celebrated photographer Mike McCartney and has been exhibited in Hollyrood, the home of the Scottish Parliament.

Almost any object can be framed, not just two dimensional artwork. For more information or to discuss your requirements further, please contact me.

Mounting

I aim to guide the client’s choice of mount and frame which will enhance the work of art and not distract the viewer. The combination of colour, texture and size of the ‘windowmount’ is carefully selected. Double mounts, deep bevel mounts, and floating mounts are just some of the options available.

Framing

I offer a large range of frame mouldings in many different styles from traditional to contemporary. This includes natural wood finishes and coloured frames including black.

My frames are jointed with both adhesive and ‘v’ points for maximum strength.

I prefer to glaze the frame with glass rather than plastic and the complete frame is sealed with two layers of tape to protect the art from environmental contamination.

A note on Materials

All the materials I use which come into contact with the artwork are conservation grade. This means that they will not damage the artwork over time. Also, the techniques I adopt are always completely reversible ie. the mounting/framing can be completely dissembled without causing damage to the artwork.
