Biography
I was born in Middlesbrough in the North East of England in 1960. An established career in telecoms and electronics has always been supplemented by a love of photography and the outdoors.
The contrast provided by the industrial area of Teesside and the surrounding beauty of North Yorkshire has long been a focus of my work. More recently this has been complimented by an interest in macro photography inspired by a fascination with detail.
My landscape work continues to be influenced by some of the UK’s last remaining wildernesses. My love of the remotest parts of North West Scotland led a decision to relocate to Durness in Sutherland where I have lived with my family since November 2006.
My main objective is to be true to the original image. This means that my landscape photographs are subjected to the absolute minimum of manipulation. Whilst this is also true of my montage and macro images, a signature of my work in this area are the simple backdrops added to create a clean visual impact.
I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society and was awarded the Licentiateship Distinction in May, 2009.
